Credit Crunch and what you should do about your credit NOW!!THERE IS STILL HOPE!!

With the financial meltdown we are experiencing,as expected major lenders are tightening most lines of credit.Everyone from major companies to small businesses to consumers EVERYONE has felt the wrath of the CREDIT CRISIS....Most people lines of credit were cut without warning and in some cases unnecessarily closed. or charged excessive fees. With that said you probably felt you were NEVER going to catch up and the account was ultimately CLOSED, "CHARGED OFF" and/or sent to COLLECTIONS.Then these Collectors harass you nonstop and next thing you know a law office picks up the "file"and charge more junk fees and then COURT. then maybe a JUDGMENT and FINALLY WAGE GARNISHMENT PLUS NEGATIVE CREDIT!!Sounds real depressing but you can fight back!!There are many effective strategies I can show you or help you come up with to combat this dilemma. Here is the order you need to proceed in:

1.Check your credit report regularly:You are entitled to ONE free credit report from each of the credit reporting agencies which is EXPERIAN,EQUIFAX,AND TRANS UNION.or get a credit monitoring services(there are many services but make sure you look uo the reviews on them each persons situation is different and cost varies)go to www.annualcreditreport.com and order your free copies of your credit reports.

2.Review your credit reports-It has been documented that more than 76% of credit reports have some type of error. that alone says it all...You could have a error and it could be costly for example:A FICO score of 600 and 680 can cost you over the lifetime of a mortgage over $100,000 MORE IN INTEREST!!NOT TO MENTION HIGHER PREMIUMS AND OF COURSE A BETTER JOB!!so look over for errors I CANNOT emphasize this enough!!

3.Contact the credit bureaus and DISPUTE the errors-According the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to dispute ANY errors on your credit report.and they have to investigate your claim and have results within 30 days from date of dispute. There are numbers you can call to the bureaus and do it over the phone but your best bet is to do your disputing in writing.(do certified mail with your letters)

4.Make sure you notify them what you want done to the tradelines that are inaccurate(if its history is wrong have them update the history if it has the wrong amount, request them to update amount,if the account is over 7 years from the date of the last payment)or if it isnt yours at all request for the tradeline to be DELETED off your report.and if you do your dispute over the phone, make sure you get a FILE OR CONFIRMATION NUMBER!!your credit investigation is 30 days from the day you initiate the investigation.30 days is 30 days...the time doesnt stop for them at ALL

5.Hopefully in 30 days you will get your results in and they are in your favor, its over, but there are times where the results come back as verified as accurate EVEN WHEN THE ITEM ISNT YOURS!!this can be nerve wracking but stay calm...take a deep breath and do one of two things.Find out where they have received their information from(which is usually a E-OSCAR a parrot of verification processes to save time)OR THEY SAY THAT YOUR CLAIM IS FRIVOLOUS!!Both are hogwash and they are many ways you can counter that bu either going to the Creditor themselves or getting the BBB or YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL INVOLVED AND MAYBE SUE!!

I could go on and on but in the near future I will put out a blog on how to deal with the collection agencies.Until then,THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!!!
